When starting a hair journey their are two major bad ingredients Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Mineral Oil. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is bad for your hair it makes hair dry very quickly. It also strips your hair off its moisture and other essential oils. It does a whole lot of other things as well. Lately, well for about a year now, I have been just co-washing my hair and deep conditioning every wash and clarify(Shampooing with a sulfate shampoo) once a month. Recently I found a sulfate free Shampoo, thats amazing, but it doesn't do the job like sulfate shampoo. I HATE an oily scalp/greasy roots. I find that my sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner doesn't do the job that needs to be done. What is really the purpose of a sulfate-free shampoo if it doesn't do any cleaning? About a month or two ago I was talking to my hair stylist and I asked her was Sulfate Shampoo bad for the hair and she said " Yes but as long as you do a deep conditioner after shampooing with it your hair will be fine." Right about now I am researching and trying to find what works best for my hair, not others, but mines :)

New Year: 10 things i've learned while on my hair journey
Hola guys! Today is the last day of 2011 and 2012 begins in less than 24 hours. This is a few things i have learned while on my 2011 hair journey, from these mistakes and learns i can learn better for my 2012 hair journey. I am excited for my 1, 2, 3 and all my other year anniversaries. My one year is in April, April 19 and im excited. So enjoy this post.
1. Mineral oil is not good-- At the start of my hair journey i was using deep conditioners and moisturizers with mineral oil in it not knowing that it wasnt good for the hair.
2. Check your products--I had a minor protein overload not knowing that the conditioner i co-washed with (Herbal essence long term) was a light protein and also that my leave in conditioner was a medium protein treatment.
3. Their is a limit to dusting-- I was getting addicted to dusting that i was dusting maybe every 2 weeks not knowing i was dusting all my progress away. ( THIS AFFECTS MY 1 year result progress, not as long as thought)
4. Be gentle with detangling-- One reason i had breakage was because i was detangling not proper, i was tearing my hair out. ALso detangle with conditioner or detangler.
5. My hair loves to stretch-- The thickness and the break from the relaxer.
6. Giving my hair a break-- My hair loves to be on a break and untouched. I really never did this only with my wig but not for long, but 2012 things will change, Senegalese twist will be my new best friend lol
7.Deep conditioning overnight (NO NO !)-- My hair is mushy and feels as if i have a moisture overload, and it breaks easily.
8. Rollersetting helps retain length-- Rollersetting helps my hair retain length, i did rollersets but not as much as i did prior to my hair journey. But my hair loves them! 2012 things will change.
9. Know the full knowledge when starting hair journey- i started my hair journey March 2011 but didnt know the full knowledge of a hair jouney, do and donts, bad products, moisture & protein balance, etc to probally May 2011(which affects my 1 year anniversary)
10. A hair journey is a whole year-- I abandoned my hair from August to december (which affects my 1 year). I was caught up in school that i forgot my hair, i wasnt taking as much care as i should have been. I was slacking on deep conditioning, M&S, and flat ironing more than i should have.
Everyone be safe tonight! Have a wonderful time and look forward to greater works and greater thing in 2012. Starting my new year right in the right place CHURCH.
Enjoy! (New year, same me, just another day)

Its Time for APL :))
Since school i have been still on my hair journey but not to the extreme during the summer. I trimmed my hair today to get rid of the split ends and raggedy ends(well dust, heavy dust). I am still not APL, i'm about still 2 to 3 inches away. Hair grows 1/2 inch a month. So if i went on a 6 month to 7 month stretch i could get their. So my goal is to get to APL! My one year annivesary is in 3 months!!! :)))
Regimen to APL
- Dust when needed(no unnessary)
-Oil scalp with castor oil(massage scalp atleast everyother day)
-M&S every night
-DC every wash for atleast an hour( i have been slacking for about the last 5 months)
-Co-wash once a week
-Protective styles during winter (no time for split ends)
- ROLLERsets or airdry hair
--- No flat ironing!!!!
-Steam Hair, Hot Oil

I am still doing my wig challenge for a month but just for today my break pass. My head surely is itching. Oh yeah Monday i removed the braids and redid them. I have not washed my hair every since like friday i think so yeah lol.

Update: Can't Not Going Natural
I was really excited about going natural but my parents have decided that i can't soooo i can't. Maybe after i graduate from high school i will go natural and transition for about 2 years and then big chop. But for now i will finish my relaxed hair journey and even prove to my family, friends, and everyone who don't know that RELAX HAIR CAN GROW. But i will stretch till december or january if my parents let me then i will relax and hopefully by then my sides will be SL, so i can be full SL and my back will be APL. But kind of sad i can't go natural but that day will come someday soon. Thanks everyone for following and supporting my blog :)))

I want my hair to be basically the same length as it is now when im natural so i will transition for a while. I am sooo excited about this. I am just getting fed up with my thin relaxed hair and i really think its time for a change & also i love big hair. I am soo excited about this.

Hair review:Carmel Treatment on hair
I did the carmel treatment on my hair yesterday and it was amazing. Besides the banana getting stuck in my hair lol. TIP: If you try this use banana baby food not real bananas that WILL be a disaster. TRUST ME lol!
Recipe: (got it from a lady on kiss)
V05, corn syrup, honey, herbal oil, pantene conditioner, syrup (yes syrup),1 banana, & waterI didnt get No exact mersurements
Real Recipe:
over-ripe bananas or baby bananas
Olive OilShea or other heavy butter
wheatgerm or coconut oil
Honeymolasses or black-strap molasses
cornstach
water
apple cider vinegar
This is how my mixture look after mixing all the ingredients together.
I applied it like a relaxer and as applying it my NG was laying really really flat like a relaxer.
After applying the mixture i put 1 bag or shower cap over my head and tied a scarf. BE careful because this stuff is very drippy.
I noticed my curl pattern was a little looser as well. Loose curls
These a the roller i rollersetted with. To get the Ng layed.
The RESULTS!!! 4 months post
Conclusion: I will be using this stuff again maybe next week lol. My Ng was layed, it deifinitly moisturized well, and detangling was pretty easy compared to my last rollerset lol.
BANANA BABY FOOD INSTEAD OF BANANAS LOL OR OVERRIPE BANANAS.

HAIR UPDATE:I got a hair color rinse
Yesterday i got my first hair color rinse. I used Adore Cajun Spice mixed with Adore Ruby Red and Argan oil. I left it on for about 20 minutes with shower cap on. I rinsed it out then styled my hair. HAIR REPORT: Its been like a week since i moisturize and seal my hair, due to leaving them at home, while i'm in Mississippi, hope this ends stay maintained. But i love the rinse, you can see it inside but Def outside. Its like a redish brown color, I LOVE IT!! And most importantly its not damaging at all, i changed my mind about the permenant dye, i mean i already have a relaxer, can we say DOUBLE PROCESS HAIR!!! lol But yeah video coming soon.
PEACE <3 =)

How to have a successful 6 month stretch (video)
Sorry for the horrible hair, was about to start the relaxing process. Note: make sure your hair don't look like mines while stretching lol. I have to do better next time. haha
6 month stretch results (video)
Here are my results from my 6 month stretch. Gained around 3 inches of new growth. Retained length by following "attack of split ends" guidelines.
Attack of the split ends !!!
Split ends are pure evil ! How to limit them. Take care of the ends
1. Moisture & seal the ends
2. Baggy the ends (putting moisturizer on the ends, and placing shower cap over ends or whole head)
3. Hot oil treatment (oil on head, & ends, rinse out)
4. Green House Effect the ends (Putting oil on the ends & hair, placing shower cap on and scarf, keeps ends oil)
5. finger combing( too much combing produces split ends)
6. Low manipulation(less coming and heat)
7.Less to no heat
What made me start my hair journey??
Of course DAMAGED HAIR !!! My 1st through 5th grade year my mother took care of my hair. My 6th grade year i was in control of my own hair. I would mix the "Sofee" greases together creating "growth aids" (I thought). I would use heat every single day (EVERY). From curling irons to flat irons i would use it all. My mom would alway tell me "Girl your damaging your hair, Girl your hair is breaking off". But i didn't believe her.
Right here my hair was breaking off. & i only had one long piece(pictured) & the rest was broken off.
Same cut
Right here my hair was breaking off. & i only had one long piece(pictured) & the rest was broken off.
Went to beautician for a fresh cut (freshmen year)
Same cut
A year later my hair only grew about 3 inches to 2 inches longer (A YEAR) Slow growth
Same!
I knew it was time for a change and i wanted maximum growth, so i started a hair journey. I came across Sunshine from Hairlista video and joined the social network & began my hair journey.
First official hair journey pic. Let the journey begin. Started Journey March 17
