Let's Talk about Solange Knowles

Can I start off by saying Solange looks absolutely amazing! She is in the July 2012 Issue Of Glamour France. She's rocking designer labels from Louis Vuitton to Mulberry to Cavalli to Burberry--and tons more. The fabulous singer/songwriter needs to add modeling and fashion onto her list. Solange's style has really transformed and I am loving at style. She has her own unique different style that you rarely see anyone looking like her. Solange is Solange and I love her, for being herself.

Thickening Program & Retaining Length

I have decided to start a thickening program for my hair. I was inspired by   to do this program. On this program I will focus on thickening my hair.  I will not be flat ironing, curling or using any direct heat whatsoever. I will mainly be rollersetting or airdrying. Also in this thickening program I will be texlaxing my hair instead of relaxing. Texlaxing gives the hair thickness and texture, its not bone straght, its like a relaxer and texturizer combined. I will also be using castor oil on my scalp and my deep conditioner. I will also be massaging my scalp at night and will be going back to my Cayenne Pepper mixture to stimilate hair growth. I will be doing a video on my thickening program soon! I will also give more details in the video.  Now on to the retaining length part. I have gotten so lazy on my hair journey that I hardly moisturize and seal. I deep condition for a short period of time, like 5 minutes, when it used to be an hour to 45 minutes. So it's time for me to wake up and really focus on retaining length. I will be moisturizing and sealing at least every other day ( I would say once a day, but I have to be realistic lol). I have not abandon protective stying because I do that mainly everyday I HARDLY EVER wear my hair down I stick with the buns & pin ups. Rollerset definitly helps retain length, I have gotten lazy on doing those as well, but I'm starting that back up. I actually roller set my hair last night :). Alrighty I will make a video with more details on these things. :)

My Twist Out

I tried a twist out last night. I have never really had a successful twist-out and wanted to try a new method and see how it would work out. I did 7 flat twist and rolled the ends. I did these twist on 80% air dry hair. I moisturize and sealed my hair then I started flat twisted. The previous twist out i did where not flat twist but non-scalp twist and they always unraveled overnight. But these flat twist didn't unravel maybe because the rollers secured them. But I am pleased with the results, but I am still working on perfecting my twist-outs.

Beware of "some" V05 Conditioners

Thanks to the Happy Hair Journey Blog I found out my V05 has protein in it. The previous V05 conditioner i had didn't have protein but the one I'm using now " Herbal Escape Free me Frescia" has protein. If you rinse the conditioners out, you should be fine but if you leave the conditioners in as a leave in it may not be that good, especially if your not keeping your moisture and protein in check.Solution: Co-wash with V05, then co-wash with a moisture conditioner (Giovanni). No more leaving this particular V05 in my hair as a leave in nor as a moisturizer.

Review: Madame Madeline lashes

Let me start out by saying I LOVE THESE LASHES. Madame Madeline's lashes are all less then $5, shoot less than $4. Their are many different brands and styles. I love natural lashes and sometimes i like to switch it up and go BOLD & BIG! I have had a problem with lashes in the past such as ELF lashes. They were wack! They broke up,  hard to form a shape with them, they wouldn't curl, and they would fall off. These are different and great quality. The wefts (I think thats what you call it) are thick that it want even shed. Their GREAT! This company has over 50 brands of lashes they sell. They have strip lashes, Individual lashes, & lash Adhesives. Check out 8% OFF coupon, Code: falsies plus a free gift with $20 or more purchase.

Rethinking Sulfate Shampoos

When starting a hair journey their are two major bad ingredients  Sodium  Lauryl Sulfate and Mineral Oil. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is bad for your hair it makes hair dry very quickly. It also strips your hair off its moisture and other essential oils. It does a whole lot of other things as well. Lately, well for about a year now, I have been just co-washing my hair and  deep conditioning every wash and clarify(Shampooing with a sulfate shampoo) once a month. Recently I found a sulfate free Shampoo, thats amazing, but it doesn't do the job like sulfate shampoo. I HATE an oily scalp/greasy roots. I find that my sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner doesn't do the job that needs to be done. What is really the purpose of a sulfate-free shampoo if it doesn't do any cleaning? About a month or two ago I was talking to my hair stylist and I asked her was Sulfate Shampoo bad for the hair and she said " Yes but as long as you do a deep conditioner after shampooing with it your hair will be fine." Right about now I am researching and trying to find what works best for my hair, not others, but mines :)
